North Shore Senior Center Southern Hub Moves to Niles

March 17, 2016

Expanding to Better Serve Our Community
By Jan Klingberg

The new office is in a small indoor L-shaped mall (Oak Mill Plaza, 7900A Milwaukee Ave., Niles) with retail on the first floor and health-related offices on the second floor. From the southeast corner with Jewel-Osco as its anchor store to the northwest corner where MB Financial sits, the mall is well maintained, fully accessible, and has ample parking. Places to eat and shop, groupings of comfortable furniture for conversation, and lots of daylight in the mall common areas create a pleasant environment for staff and clients alike.

“It has been exciting to be able to design the space to our specifications. We’ll have supervisors’ offices, counseling rooms for confidential conversations, ‘normal-sized’ cubicles, two accessible restrooms, a client waiting area, conference room, and a spot for staff to take a break or eat lunch.” —Pat English, Director of Facility Operations, North Shore Senior Center.
