North Shore Senior Center Celebrates Super Seniors!

May 21, 2015

By Mary Staackmann, Director of Lifelong Learning

Every day, older adults devote countless hours of their time as volunteers to nonprofit organizations across the county. They may assist with administrative tasks, greet customers, plant flowers, drive people, serve in leadership roles, mentor children, and serve in myriad other ways. It is difficult to quantify the impact of these efforts on our society.

These older adults take on very special roles as mentors and role models. Their caring deeds, expertise, and community involvement signify their commitment to their fellow citizens and to the areas in which they live. These seniors are a shining example of how the individual, in any number of ways, can contribute to the betterment of society.

Each year, North Shore Senior Center honors these older adults and their volunteer service at our annual Super Senior Day celebration. On Thursday, May 21, over 40 volunteers from organizations throughout the northern suburbs will be recognized and celebrated at a luncheon and awards ceremony in their honor.

The names of these Super Senior volunteers will be added to the Honor Roll Book, which lists the more than 2,000 seniors who have been awarded “Super Senior” status since 1973. That volume is on display year-round in the North Shore Senior Center’s library.

Below is a list of this year’s Super Seniors and the organizations they serve. North Shore Senior Center congratulates these Super Seniors and thanks them for their remarkable contributions to our communities. If you know anyone on the list, please congratulate them as well!
