20/20 Corporate CampaignOctober 18, 2017
By Molly Conley, Corporate Relations Officer
They say you can’t predict when something will go viral. It’s true . . . you can’t. But a great idea is bound to get the attention it deserves, which is why North Shore Senior Center is spearheading a 20/20 Corporate Campaign.
Breaking ground on a campaign that has yet to be tried here at the Center, board members Gary Walther, Reed Tupper and Roger Lumpp have a big goal in mind: 20 corporations at $20,000 each in donations by the year 2020. As Gary said, “We are looking to gain support from local and regional businesses. To reach this goal, we need to get the word out on what we do here at North Shore Senior Center.”
How will we get there? The Center’s Corporate 20/20 team is currently forming a strategic list of locally headquartered companies as well as international corporations. Once we firm up the list, it will be time to go out and put the rubber to road, so to speak.
With a three-year time frame, the team is hoping to stay ahead of the trend of our growing demographic. Just to give a couple of forecast numbers: it is projected that there will be a billion senior citizens in the world by the year 2020.
Yes, that means that more than 14 percent of the world’s population will be senior citizens. By the year 2050, the over 60 population will be larger than the age 15 and under population. Imagine more seniors than teenagers! In Cook County alone, by 2030, more than 26 percent of residents will be over the age of 65. This growing population means our services will be more in demand.
Watch for campaign updates in the coming year and, if you want to get involved, just let a 20/20 team member know. In the meantime, send the Center a “like” on Facebook, follow us on LinkedIn, or contact us with a corporate name.
